Back sailing on one hull and the countdown to #BringtheCupHome has begun

As further details of the foiling monohull yachts announced by Emirates Team New Zealand for the 36th Americas Cup to be held in Auckland in 2021 emerged, Sir Ben Ainslie took to the water last week with Tony Langley on board the TP52 Gladiator, following the announcement last month that Langley Holdings’ Gladiator Programme will partner Land Rover BAR by providing a training platform with the TP52 Super Series, the world’s premier monohull yacht racing circuit:

Sir Ben’s Land Rover BAR team were defeated by Emirates Team New Zealand in the quarter finals of the 35th America's Cup, held in Bermuda this summer.

Britain has been runner up several times but never won this, the oldest trophy in sport, known affectionately as the “auld mug”. In 1851 Queen Victoria was politely informed “there is no second place ma’am”.

Sir Ben Ainslie is the most successful competitive sailor ever, having won gold at four successive Olympic Games. For Ainslie there is no second place either and the quest to bring the cup home has begun.
