PCI plant for Ruukki Metals
Finnish steel making company, Ruukki Metals, one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of steel products in the Nordic countries and Baltic states, has awarded a multi-million euro contract to Claudius Peters Projects for the delivery of a coal grinding and pulverized coal injection plant (PCI plant) for their steel plant at Raahe.
Ruukki was founded in 1960 and is an internationally operating manufacturer of special steel products. The portfolio of special steels includes high strength, wear resistant and special-coated products.
The scope includes the raw coal handling, two coal grinding plants with a capacity each of 33 t/h and two PCI systems for the BF 1 & 2 designed for a maximal injection of 220 kg/tHM Claudius Peters will provide the supervisory services for the erection and commissioning of the equipment, as well as training and technical assistance for operating the blast furnaces at high coal injection rates.
The plant will be commissioned and in operation by the end of the 2015 - September for BF1 and October for BF2.
The very tight time schedule, 18 months from receiving the order up to the start of commercial operation, is an exciting challenge for both project teams, requiring very close and careful co-operation.
