Cirencester 4 June, 2013. One of the world’s most advanced broadcast operations has chosen Piller technology for round-the-clock protection against loss of power.

The BBC Media City UK in Salford Quays, Manchester began operations in 2011, producing thousands of hours of content for television, radio and online.

Around 2,500 staff work in 26 departments, including BBC Children’s, BBC Learning, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Sport, BBC Breakfast and parts of the Research and Development, drama and comedy.

Obviously a loss of power at any time would be catastrophic, with the risk of going off air and affecting BBC websites.

The Corporation has installed 16 Piller units to guarantee supplies during any power emergency.

In total sixteen UNIBLOCK™ rotary UPS modules were supplied comprising of Piller’s UNIBLOCK™ UBR1100; UBR500 and UBR625. A total capacity of 12.35 MVA.

Project delivery and on-going after-sales service was handled by Piller UK Ltd based in Cirencester, Gloucestershire and follows a tradition of supplying the BBC, one of the biggest broadcast corporations in the world.
