House builder changes name after 25 years
Langley Homes Limited - a subsidiary of Langley Holdings PLC, one of the UK's top privately owned companies* - has announced that it has changed its name to Oakdale Homes Limited.
Langley's have been building new homes in the Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire region for 25 years this year, when in 1986 the group comprised just two companies; a house builder and a small engineering business supplying the coal industry. Today the group is a multi-discipline engineering concern with operations in 17 countries. The house building arm was the only remaining subsidiary trading directly under the Langley name.
Searching for a suitable new name, the group's founder and chairman, Tony Langley, was told that the company had recently purchased a development site off Oakdale Road in Nottingham, which turned to be just a stone's throw from where his mother had grown up as a child and near where the family had lived for several generations. Oakdale Homes it was.
With a hint of the Royal Navy's ‘Heart of Oak’, the company’s new strap line "Built from the Heart" evokes the same sense of pride which lead to the company to achieve numerous industry awards over the years and a sense of belonging to the area, famous for those oaks.
Langley Holdings group Marketing Manager, Crista Baxter, says: “The new name for our homes division, with its bright green oak tree logo, gives the company a fresh new identity and just seems so appropriate, being based here in Sherwood Forest."
The name change took effect in June and the company, which was recently awarded the coveted "Premium A1" rating by the NHBC, currently has developments in the area at Retford, Misterton (near Doncaster) and at Carlton in Nottingham, offering a range of innovative new homes from two bed starters to four and five bedroom executive homes.
