Piller powers ahead with new ECB headquarters project
The European Central Bank (ECB) is well underway with construction of its iconic new headquarters building in Frankfurt, Germany. Piller is right on track with its contribution, reports Crista Baxter.
A topping out ceremony was held in September 2012 to mark completion of the basic structure of the distinctive towers and the fit out is advancing according to schedule for occupation of the building mid-2014.

In February 2013 Piller Germany GmbH & Co. KG delivered the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems that will protect the new headquarters’ datacentre and other critical applications, including the personal computers of the ECB President, and his Board and all other occupants of the 165 metre tall towers.
A total of 4.5 MVA decentralised UPS equipment is being installed, including four UBR 625 water-cooled rotary UPS units and six UBR 330 units, together with associated transfer switches and cabling. Commissioning of the equipment is expected to commence in August with final systems testing scheduled for the end of the year.
